For 11 years, Tarpon Bend has been known in Fort Lauderdale as a staple in town for great drinks and atmosphere.
The bar and restaurant, located in downtown Fort Lauderdale, will celebrate its 11th anniversary party with a luau theme.
Locals are invited to Tarpon Bend’s Bikini and Fire Luau, which will be held on August 14 from 6 pm to close.
“This is actually our annual anniversary party. We have done a Luau here before, but this time we are combining the two parties to make one big one,” said Aaron Abramoff, General Manager at Tarpon Bend Food and Tackle.
Tarpon Bend staff thought the summer was the perfect time for a luau party.
“The theme came from thinking about when the party is, and what better time to have a Luau then in the middle of the summer,” added Abramoff.
The local hangout will serve up plenty of drink specials, including $2.50 Coronas and Corona Lights and $3.50 Seven Tiki Rum drinks. As always, Tarpon Bend offers 20 percent off an entire check for the ITB crowd.
Besides great drink discounts, there will be many games, fun and contests for customers, including a bikini contest, hula hoop contest, frozen t-shirt contest. In addition, there will be live Hawaiian and fire dancers at 8pm that night.
The Bikini Contest winners will win $500 for first place and $300 for second place. Tarpon Bend will also be giving away all kinds of prizes for the bikini contest participants, as well as prizes in our Hula Hoop contest and Frozen T-Shirt contest.
“Tarpon Bend is a staple in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale and locals have been coming here for years to enjoy great food and drinks. This is a way to celebrate 11 great years of being in Ft. Lauderdale. I think the locals and the ITB crowd will have fun because in the heart of Downtown we are going to bring a little Hawaiian to South Florida. We will be doing all this in the street adjacent to Tarpon Bend, so not only can you party with great drink specials, but you can party in the streets,” said Abramoff, adding, “The goal of the event is to make sure everyone has a lot of fun.”
And at the end of the night, it’s the locals and regulars that give Tarpon Bend its character, and the bar wants to give back to those regulars.
“Having the same people come in day in and day out are what I believe is the key for a restaurant’s success. The success rate for restaurants is not very high and when you get return guests, it shows that you are doing something right,” said Abramoff, “Especially in these economic times, to make an experience at a restaurant great for a guest is more important than ever. If someone does not have a good time at your establishment, then they will not return with their diminished amount of disposable income.”
